Timeless design, thoughtful materials.
Spaces that are made to last.

The materials we choose shape more than just the look and feel of our retreats—they shape their meaning.
Every surface tells a story: of reclaimed timber from old barns, tiles pressed from waste, or wool transformed into solid, sculptural forms.
We collaborate with pioneering makers who share our belief in circularity, longevity and beauty with purpose. From carbon-absorbing paint to textiles that restore landscapes, each material in a BERTS cabin has been selected with care—for how it performs, how it ages, and how it contributes to a lighter footprint. These aren’t just materials; they’re the soul of what we build. They make every BERTS cabin feel grounded, expressive and truly one of a kind.
Reclaimed Wood
We source salvaged timber with tales. These reclaimed boards from barns, mills and farms carry warmth, history and character into every BERTS interior and facade.
Cork
A renewable, tactile wonder—sound-absorbing, breathable and naturally insulating, used for walls for quiet, organic elegance.
Low Impact Tiles
Cold-pressed, antique or made from waste, these low-impact tiles reduce waste and carbon emissions while offering timeless pattern and charm.
Paperstone
Made from 100% post-consumer waste paper and bio-resin, this beautiful, dense surface is durable, rich and quietly radical.
Solid Wool
Wool from hardy British flocks, fused with bio-resin into sculptural furniture—supporting local farms and reducing waste.
Smile Plastics
Recycled plastic reimagined as bold, marbled surfaces for joinery and detailing—elevating waste into design statements.
Graphenstone Paint
CO₂-absorbing, toxin-free and rich in natural lime. These paints actively purify air and bring walls quietly to life.
Natural Textiles
Hemp and wool textiles that are flame-retardant, low-impact and biodegradable—good for people and the planet.
Green Roof
Sedum roofs grown in bio-plastic trays—cooling, insulating and restoring biodiversity overhead.

Our philosophy
Built with more in mind

We work with materials, makers and methods that are transparent, responsible and rooted in respect.
Balance
We build off-site to reduce impact, and partner with suppliers who share our commitment to circular, low-waste design.
Environment
Our approach puts both people and planet first—choosing natural, healthy materials and processes that support wellbeing at every level.
Restore
We build to endure. Using reclaimed, renewable and low-energy materials, every detail is designed to last and grow more beautiful with age.
Timeless
More than spaces, our cabins are restorative sanctuaries: crafted with intention, designed to connect and created to give back more than they take.
